Focal Research has developed and validated the FocaL Adult Gambling Screen (FLAGS) to identify early signs of gambling risk and harm among electronic gambling machine (EGM) players as well as general gambling populations.

This paper provides an overview of best practices and lessons learned through Focal’s work in creating risk identification models using player tracking data collected from customer loyalty programs, smart cards, and online systems.

Focal conducted a series of separate surveys with adolescents aged 13-18 years and a parent within the same household to explore risk factors and environmental influences that contributed to the development of gambling-related harm.
