Quantitative Research

Our methodological and analytical skills allow us to fully address all of our clients’ quantitative research needs, from the simplest design to the most complex, since the underlying principles of quality research remain the same.

Focal has distinct expertise in the design and execution of long-term tracking studies. Focal Research developed and conducted a monthly Atlantic Canadian tracking study for one client for more than seven years (more than 84 consecutive months). The duration of that particular study allowed us to refine and repeatedly test variations of the methodology and accuracy of the measures to maximize both project efficiency and information return. Supporting Focal’s level of expertise in quantitative research, expenditure measures projected to the general population have consistently fallen within ±5% of actual product sales figures.

We have come up with innovative quantitative methodological combinations to best address client information needs. For example, we have successfully combined a random representative telephone survey, mail-out component and follow-up survey to provide data for conjoint analysis, used to develop, test and refine new product characteristics targeting a distinct population group.

A sampling of our customized quantitative studies, undertaken on a regional, national and/or international scale, include:

  • Market tracking studies
  • Comparative segmentation studies
  • Advertising effectiveness studies
  • New/Existing product development/evaluations
  • Customer loyalty/retention studies
  • Employee environment studies
  • Social issues research

Focal has designed and developed a number of targeted diagnostic measures and tools to assist our clients in applying market information to their decision making process, including specialized analyses and customizable software packages.
